Tip: Take care of the battery on your Sony mobile

Take care of the battery

The battery wears down over time and can hold less charge, but you can slow down that process by charging your phone properly, and the Battery Care feature will help you with that. You can find it by going into the settings, select Battery and then Battery care.

It is above all when the battery is almost fully charged that it wears out to charge further. The battery care function works so that the phone tries as much as possible to avoid the phone being charged when the battery is almost full, by pausing the charge.

The default mode is for the phone to detect your usage pattern over time and adjust when the function should start accordingly. Then it makes sure to only charge the battery to 90 percent, to charge the last 10 percent just before you need to use the phone. So, for example, if you usually charge the mobile overnight, it will be charged to 90 percent until half an hour before you usually get up, in order to then charge the last 10 percent.

You can also choose custom to control when the function should be active. You can then manually specify between what time the function should be active (when you charge the mobile phone overnight, for example) and at what time you want the mobile phone to be fully charged.

You can also choose to always limit the mobile’s maximum charge level to further save the battery. The default setting in this mode is to charge to a maximum of 90 percent, but you can adjust it to 80 percent for even less wear on the battery. However, it should be weighed against the fact that 80 percent capacity is approximately what you have left in the battery after two years if you have not had the charge limited in any way.
