Today, March 6, the drama series “Supersex” is released on Netflixwhich is a true-to-life story about Rocco Siffrediwho chose to leave her former life behind to become one of the world’s biggest porn stars.
The character Rocco is played by the Italian star Alessandro Borghi. Together with Siffredi himself, the series is directed by Francesca manners, who calls herself “a militant feminist”. She tells Variety that she initially thought it was a joke when she was asked to direct the series, but that she’s glad she took the chance anyway.
– I told myself that if I, as a woman, turn down the chance to dive into the core of masculinity, with all its dysfunctionality, toxicity and power, then we can’t blame anyone else anymore, she says.

Contains more than 40 “rare sex scenes”
The series begins in 2004 at a sex convention in Italy, where Rocco shocks everyone by announcing that he is ending his career. The plot touches a lot of Rocco’s past, as we get to follow him from his childhood until he becomes one of the biggest and highest paid male stars in the entire industry.
Despite the name, the series also deals with topics such as family, masculinity and toxic relationships. Over three decades, see how Rocco’s new career eats away at his mental health and eventually begins to destroy his personal family and love relationships.
But only because the series is directed by a “militant feminist” that doesn’t mean it holds back on the sex scenes. Alessandro Borghi himself describes the series as “containing 40 to 50 boundary-pushing sex scenes”. But he also emphasizes that each such scene has relevance and involves a new narrative twist for the character in some way.
– It’s never about just throwing in a little sex for the sake of the audience, he says.
