Tingling during the final training: Jahn receives Werder Bremen

A breath of Bundesliga air should blow through the Peiner Silberkamp sports hall on Saturday. Because then the women’s handball team from second division Werder Bremen will be there for the first round of the DHB Cup. The game is hosted by father Jahn Peine’s top division team, whose players are full of anticipation.

MTV father Jahn Peine – SV Werder Bremen (Saturday, 6 p.m.). “It will be a handball festival for us. I felt a tingling sensation during the final training session, ”says MTV trainer Marco Wittneben, reflecting the mood of his squad. That’s complete on Saturday. “Nobody wants to miss out on a game like this.” Peine’s managers, who were organizationally challenged, were also positive. “Because the requirements in the cup are higher than for the major league. The German Handball Federation is the umbrella organization. We had a lot to do and we’re happy to finally have it over with. “

Wittneben finds it difficult to assess the strengths of the opponent. “But I think Werder’s players will be capable of everything. You exercise five times a week. Anyone who is on the table in the 2nd league can already play handball really well. ”The aim of his team is to pull off“ their own boots ”for as long as possible. The Jahn trainer knows, however, that this is difficult to implement. “Because our fitness level is not yet perfect. It is unlikely that we will be able to keep up with Werder’s pace for over 60 minutes. But it would be nice if our processes worked against a top-class team. What the result is in the end is unimportant, ”explains Wittneben.

The number of spectators in the Silberkamp sports hall, which can accommodate 600 visitors, is limited due to hygiene requirements. A maximum of 250 spectators are therefore permitted. The tormentors expect to get to this number. “As of the beginning of this week, 150 tickets have already been sold in advance,” reports Wittneben.
