On the occasion of Pride Month, Tinder launches a new feature to promote diversity. The dating app has partnered with GLAAD in the United States, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, to develop a “sexual orientation” function. As the name suggests, it allows users who wish to enter their sexual orientation on their profile. Tested in several countries, it is the first time that it will soon be introduced in France. Tinder explains that in countries where it already exists, 62% of members have chosen to display it on their profile. It is possible to define yourself in several ways: heterosexual.le, gay, pansexual.le, lesbian, queer, asexual.le, or others. It is of course possible to include several orientations in your profile. The most growing combination among 18-25 year olds would be “heterosexual and questioning”. Without giving a date, Tinder specifies that the “sexual orientation” option will be available this summer. To fill it out, you will certainly have to go to your profile settings. In a video, the application details the process currently in place in the United States. At registration, the application will ask for sexual orientation – it is possible to tick several boxes – and the kind of people you want to see. It is also possible to ask to see in priority the users who have the same sexual orientation.

Tinder seems to embark even more on the path of “inclusiveness”. In a press release, the company details its motivations: “At Tinder, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to feel that they exist, in an authentic way. Our youngest members, ages 18 to 25, are paving the way for a more inclusive world, and with the reach of our product, we can help make a difference. ” She also explains that she has established a partnership with the AJL, the Association of LGBTQI + journalists, by donating advertising space to promote her program. “Out”. 90 minutes, the latter is dedicated to current social movements and their media treatment. The meeting is set for June 30, at 8 p.m. As a reminder, Tinder already offers, since 2017, the possibility of informing a greater gender diversity.
