Timrå’s Sebastian Hartmann got Brian Cooper’s skate over his calf.

Now comes the news that he will be out for the rest of the season.

– Under the circumstances, he is in good spirits and doing well, but will have to undergo an operation, says team doctor Christian Rydin.

It was with five minutes left in the first period that Växjö’s Brian Cooper’s skate rail hit Sebastian Hartmann straight across the calf.

It was immediately noticeable that something serious had happened, as both teammates and opponents waved in panic and called for medical help.

Must have surgery

After a while, the referees decided to end the period early and take the players off the ice.

Then Hartmann was carried out on a stretcher and taken to hospital.

Now comes the news that he will be out for the rest of the season.

– Sebastian Hartmann was unfortunately hit in the calf by a skate rail. He is in good spirits under the circumstances and doing well but will have to undergo an operation. His rehabilitation exceeds what remains of the season, says Timrå’s team doctor Christian Rydin to the club’s website.

Won despite 13 shots

Timrå turned around and won the match 2–1.

This despite the fact that only 13 shots were fired in the entire match and zero (!) in the final period.

– We came together as a group after the injury. We said it, now we play for Hartmann and we know he will be well taken care of. Even though Växjö has a lot of the game, I think we shut them down well, says Timrå’s goalkeeper Tim Juel.
