Shortly after halfway through the game, Timo Meier scored the game-changing 3:1 with a top number with a well-placed shot into the top corner of the goal. Even before the second break, the 26-year-old winger provided an assist in Oskar Lindblom’s 4-1 win – for Meier, it was his 18th goal in his 35th appearance of the season, and he has 16 assists Let the striker write ten score points.
The win ended the Sharks’ three game losing streak. Opponent Minnesota must take a loss after their last six de suite wins and ten wins in their last twelve games.
Blizzard causes game turns
The Los Angeles Kings under Kevin Fiala also won in their penultimate game before Christmas, defeating the Calgary Flames 4-3 in overtime after leading 3-1 with a goal from Adrian Kempe. It is the fourth consecutive victory for the Californian team. Fiala was scoreless in nearly 20 minutes on the ice.
It remains debatable whether the latest NHL games can actually take place before the holidays. A snowstorm is currently sweeping through much of the United States, causing drastic drops in temperature and heavy snowfall. Games between Ottawa and Detroit and Buffalo versus Tampa on Saturday night have been postponed. It’s entirely possible that other games need to bow to the storm. (SDA/mab)
