Last year tennis star Yanina Wickmayer was tempted to participate in The Masked Singer, this year the production with Timmy Simons once again managed to get a well-known figure from the sports world.
By singing in his first episode “Dancing on my own”, Simons was able to survive at first, but after his version of George Ezra’s “Green green grass”, his song was out.
“Why did I say yes to participate in this? I still don’t know,” laughs the former midfielder (to Club Brugge, PSV and the Red Devils), who is now a trainer at Dender.
“I thought it was a great idea and it was. This was not normally outside my comfort zone, but I am so glad I did it. I am happy and proud that I dared to jump,” says Simons, who was especially looking forward to to the reaction of his children.
Simons had even concealed his participation from his own family. “My daughter gave me music tips. She will be shocked that it was for The Masked Singer.”
