Times Square’s Wall of Wishes Returns – NBC New York (47)

NEW YORK Want better things in 2023? Want to say goodbye to moments that weren’t good in 2022? A year-end tradition from the Big Apple returns to represent it.

It’s the traditional New Year’s Wall of Wishes that officially opened in Times Square on Thursday, just in time for the start of December and the holiday season. This is one of the main attractions before New Years.

The venue offers people from all over the world the chance to join New Year’s Eve in Times Square by writing their wishes for the coming year on pieces of confetti that will be released at midnight on New Year’s Eve.

“When the ball drops and the clock strikes midnight in 2022, we will all watch in awe as a blizzard of confetti blankets the sky filled with the hopes and dreams of people around the world,” said Jeffrey Straus, president of Countdown entertainment. “Sending a confetti wish gives everyone a chance to be part of the magic that happens on New Year’s Eve in Times Square.”

How does the Wish Wall work?

The Wall of Wishes in Times Square is open to all. Wishes can be left in person or virtually here and they’ll all be tossed in real confetti at midnight during New Year’s Eve celebrations in New York City.

Those who choose to leave their wishes in person can find the Wishing Wall on one of the Broadway squares in Times Square between 43rd and 47th Streets, daily through December 29 from 11:00 to 20:00 (not available on Christmas Day, December 25).

Every wish collected by December 29 via Times Square’s Wish Wall or online will be printed on a piece of confetti by December 28 and will be part of 3,000 pounds of confetti to be dropped at midnight in Times Square on New Year’s Eve.

The highly anticipated festivities will be broadcast to television and online audiences and will include an immersive virtual experience from One Times Square, home of the iconic prom celebration.
