At a press conference, the police said that the three injured were allegedly “bystanders” in a “dispute”. According to the state of the investigation, two to four men had quarreled on the street – presumably one of them pulled a pistol and fired several times.
“Thank God the condition of innocent passers-by is stable,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio on Twitter. “The police are looking for the perpetrators of this violence and will bring them to justice. The flood of illegal weapons arriving in New York must be stopped. “
Among the injured is a little girl (4, from Brooklyn) who was shopping for toys with her parents.
A tourist (23, from Rhode Island) who actually wanted to visit the Statue of Liberty and a woman (43) from New Jersey were among the victims. The bullets hit her legs, feet and thighs – they should be operated on as soon as possible.
According to the police, the three did not know each other. It is believed that they were just uninvolved third parties allegedly hit by ricochets.
The authorities published on Saturday evening the recordings of a man who is now being wanted. It is not yet known whether he is the shooter.
