The focus of the virtual excursion to Cologne in the interwar period is 1926: After the withdrawal of the British occupation troops, a long-unheard-of euphoria spread among the people of Cologne.
Become a contemporary witness of everyday life at the time and experience spontaneous celebrations and improvised carnival parades that were previously prohibited for years. Multi-sensory special effects, interactive elements and an emotional 360-degree all-round view make the Cologne lifestyle of that time tangible.
In a true-to-original replica of Cologne’s first electric tram, you can rediscover the landmarks of the old metropolis on the Rhine, which have often disappeared today, on a completely new route.
The 45-minute journey through time can also be experienced in Kölsch for the first time in addition to German and English. Carnival veteran Ludwig Sebus and musician Björn Heuser together with Cologne actress Anne K. Müller lend the virtual reality journey through time their voices and even their appearance: Sebus appears briefly as a child in the VR ride and Heuser controls as Originally from Cologne tram driver Pitter the digital tram through old Cologne, while Müller embodies the figure of the hatter Tessa.
TimeRide Cologne can be visited by individuals and groups. The virtual excursions into Cologne’s city history are suitable for time travelers between the ages of 6 and 99. The production, funded by the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, initially opens from Friday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Please inform yourself beforehand about the currently applicable hygiene and safety measures!
