Before the viewer dedicates himself to the series on Disney +, it helps to place “The Mandalorian” in the timeline of the “Star Wars” universe. At the center of the plot is the “Mandalorian” (Pedro Pascal), a bounty hunter and thus a previously unknown character.
“The Mandalorian” takes place after the original “Star Wars” trilogy. The action begins five years after the fall of the empire – that is, after the end of “Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi” (1983).
Accordingly, popular “Star Wars” characters like “Luke Skywalker” (Mark Hamill), “Han Solo” (Harrison Ford) and “Princess Leia” (Carrie Fisher) are alive at the time of “The Mandalorian”. In the first two seasons of the series, the latter played no role so far, only “Luke” made an appearance in the finale of the second season.
In addition, in some episodes of the second season “The Mangalorian” “Boba Fett” can be seen, which also appears in the original trilogy.
The final season of @StarWars: #TheCloneWars premieres this Friday on #DisneyPlus, so there’s no better time to break down WHEN the series takes place.

Who does the viewer know from the timeline before “The Mandalorian”?
There is one other character who does not appear on the “The Mandalorian” timeline for the first time. It refers to “The Mandalorian” – “Ahsoka” (Rosario Dawson), which was already seen in “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and “Star Wars Rebels”.

The popular former “Jedi Knight” appeared in the second season of “The Mandalorian”. Another question that preoccupied many fans at the beginning of the series is the identity of “Baby Yoda” – is this really “Yoda”? Unfortunately the answer is no. “Yoda” has not returned after his death in “Return of the Jedi”. “Baby Yoda” just comes from the same species as the legendary “Jedi Master”.
“The Mandalorian” timeline: What about the latest heroes?
At the time “The Mandalorian” plays, the heroes of the latest trilogy are not yet alive. “Rey” (Daisy Ridley) and “Finn” (John Boyega) appear for the first time in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” (2015) about 25 years after the storyline of “The Mandalorian”.

“The Mandalorian” gets along well without the previously known characters and convinces with new faces. The “The Mandalorian” cast plays convincingly and the storyline casts a spell over fans – so “The Mandalorian” became the most illegally downloaded series in 2020.
The story of the “Mandalorian” has not yet been told and continues. Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy has already confirmed a third season, but it will not start on Disney + until Christmas 2021.
