Although not very significant, the Cienfuegos Sugar Company (EAC) has a backlog of just over 500 tons of crude, as planned to date, concentrated in the Ciudad Caracas, Lajas, and Antonio Sánchez, Aguada mills.
According to María Nerelys Quintana Brunet, director of Information Technology, Communication and Analysis of the EAC, the main cause of non-compliance is due to the low stability in the supply of raw material, due to repeated breakages in the cutting machines, without leaving if there is also the time lost due to operational interruptions and failures in industrial machinery.
The directive added that such irregularities have an impact on the levels of grinding being below the plan, except in the rodense “14 de Julio”, although it highlighted the fact that the three mills in operation achieve efficiency indicators higher than expected. He mentioned among them, the industrial yield of 8.92, the recovered to 83 percent and a use of the Sugarcane Potential Yield (RPC) of 96 percentage points; meanwhile, the excellent quality of the sweet goes beyond 99.2 percent pol (polarization), in addition to complying with other parameters such as humidity, color and grain size.
In another order, said Quintana Brunet, electricity generation maintains a stable behavior, since the triad of factories accumulate more than 7,700 Megawatt-hours (MWh), manage to supply themselves with electricity and deliver almost 1,200 MWh to the Electroenergetic System National, in order to contribute in this way to energy consumption, both in the state and residential sectors.
“As the milling has progressed, the percentage of foreign matter in the grass was reduced, to the point that today the impurity of the cane does not exceed 11.60 percent; however, this is an indicator that can be improved with greater rigor and control in the cutting squads and cleaning centers ”, insisted the director of Information Technology, Communication and Analysis.
The Cienfuegos sugar producers hope to overcome the obstacles and comply with the 90 thousand tons committed to the technical-economic plan, but for this it is necessary to deepen each day in the individual and collective duty. Responsibility is imposed in the contribution to be made in jobs, central shift, cutting squads with the fulfillment of the task and efficiency in shooting, as well as ensuring good attention to the man, even in the midst of resource limitations and supplies.
The present harvest requires the maximum of organization, demand and control. It is called to be a short contest, also marked by extreme hygienic sanitary conditions due to Covid-19, and the tensions inherent to the current difficulties as a result of the economic situation in the country, aggravated by the intensification of the Yankee blockade. However, this is a sector of men and women of shame, committed and with a great sense of belonging, accumulated experience and the will to grow in the face of adversity.
