Time-Saving Ironing Hack: Use Aluminum Foil to Cut Ironing Time in Half

Ironing is one of the relatively time-consuming household chores, which is why few people like it. Smart people who apparently are not fans of this boring activity either, but have invented an enhancer. And he can significantly shorten the whole process. All you need is a simple tool that we all have at home.

Iron the other side of the foil as well

Just put the foil under the cover of the ironing board. Simply remove the cover, unroll an appropriately long strip of foil, place it on the board and cover with the cover.

This aluminum foil is able to reflect heat back to the underside of the clothes and effectively acts as a second iron. But you don’t need to put it under the cover, it will work just as reliably on it.

Use the shiny side

If you decide to try this method, be sure to place the foil with the shiny side up. This is because it reflects heat the best. You don’t have to turn the clothes over, thanks to the foil you only need to iron them on one side.

The foil reflects the heat back and effectively takes care of the other side as well. The fabric is actually between two heat sources. And this will significantly reduce the time you have to spend ironing.

Steam is enough for delicate fabric

If you are going to iron a really delicate fabric, place it directly on the foil. Then, without touching the fabric with the iron, blow a little steam on it from a distance of a few centimeters. The moist heat that radiates back from the foil will smooth out all the creases in the fabric.

Although modern irons can iron even very fine fabrics, direct heat is a bit risky in these cases. In contrast, indirect heat from a combination of steam and foil is much safer after all.

Beware of possible moisture

Once you’ve finished ironing, you don’t need to remove the film, its abilities are not consumed. You can easily use it for a long time. It loses nothing of its ability to reflect heat. Replace it only if it becomes wrinkled. Wrinkled could add unwanted folds to the fabric. Especially if the garment is placed directly on the foil.

After ironing, moisture may precipitate on the aluminum. Therefore, it is better to check the film every time. If it is placed under a cover, it is better to take it off and let it air out. Allow the moisture to evaporate.
