Time Out Market Budapest may open in 2025 in the Corvin Palace

Opening in 2025, Time Out Market Budapest is planned to host the city’s best culinary and cultural talents, from award-winning chefs to up-and-coming restaurant owners.

Time Out Market Budapest is scheduled to open its doors in 2025 in the Corvin Palace on Blaha Lujza Square. The department store, which is well-known to the people of Budapest, and whose history goes back to 1926, was recently restored to its original, neoclassical state. After the renovation, the former department store will be renewed as a mixed-use property with shops, entertainment facilities and a hotel.

Time Out Market Budapest will welcome its guests in an interior area of nearly 2,500 m2 on the first floor, and in an additional 775 m2 exterior area on the roof terrace. It will house 14 kitchens, four bars, an event hall and around 800 seats, so there will be enough space to celebrate the excellent culinary and cultural talents representing the flavors of the city and Hungary. The guests can enjoy the food of award-winning chefs, popular local excellences and restaurant owners with a great future, and they will be able to choose from a number of drinks, including cocktails from the most imaginative mixologists, they write in their announcement.

In addition to presenting the best of the city, Time Out Market’s philosophy is to make prominent domestic culinary and cultural experiences accessible to everyone, bringing guests together at communal tables in a specially designed venue.

According to the announcement, to compile the Time Out Market’s gastronomic offer, the Time Out team gathers a list of places that make the city a vibrant culinary scene, and then selects their most exciting and ambitious leading local representatives. Part of this process is to seek out and test the best of the city’s current best, and then invite the very best of them to join the market. But it’s not just “big names”. The city’s up-and-coming chefs and popular hidden gems will also be proudly presented.

This will be the first Time Out Market location in Hungary. The first Time Out Market opened in Lisbon in 2014 as the world’s first carefully curated gastronomic and cultural market. Later, more Time Out Markets opened around the world, shining a spotlight on the gastronomic and cultural scene and diverse talents of the cities hosting them. Even though this concept is now popular in many cities, the execution of each Market is distinctly local.

Time Out Market is rooted in Time Out’s heritage. The publication started in London in 1968 from a kitchen table to help people more easily discover the exciting new urban cultures emerging across the city. Today, teams of local expert journalists work around the world to curate and curate lists of the best things to do, see and eat in 333 cities in 59 countries and present them on websites, social media, videos, newsletters, podcasts and live events. This selection is now coming to life at Time Out Market.
