Posts Roy Suryo The question about the Borobudur Temple stupa meme that was edited like President Jokowi had a long tail. Roy Suryo was named a suspect in the case of posting the Borobudur Temple stupa meme.
Roy Suryo was charged with blasphemy, to hate speech against certain groups containing elements of SARA. Since Friday (5/8) last night, Roy Suryo was officially detained at Polda Metro Jaya.
“Then, after an examination was carried out this afternoon (yesterday afternoon), investigators decided starting tonight against Brother Roy Suryo Notodiprojo, as a suspect in this hate speech case, starting tonight, he will be detained,” said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Endra Zulpan at a press conference in Jakarta. Polda Metro Jaya, Jakarta, Saturday (6/8/2022).

Zulpan explains the reason for detention Roy Suryo This is the subjectivity of investigators, one of which is because Roy Suryo is afraid that he will run away.
“This (detention) was carried out because there was a concern that the investigator concerned would eliminate evidence and so on as stated in Article 21 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Procedure Code,” said Zulpan.
A number of evidences were secured by the police, including the Twitter account @KRMTRoySuryo2 and cellphones. Roy Suryo was charged with Article 28 paragraph 2 junto Article 45A paragraph 2 of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE) and/or Article 156A of the Criminal Code and/or Article 15 of Law Number 1 of 1946 concerning Criminal Law Regulations.

Roy Suryo’s Beginning to Post Stupa Memes
This case began when Roy Sruyo posted a meme of the Borobudur Temple stupa edited like President Joko Widodo, via the Twitter account @KRMTRoySuryo2 on June 10, 2022. Roy Suryo attached two screenshots containing the Borobudur stupa meme with caption as follows:
“During the weekend, the tweets are light. In line with the protest of the planned increase in ticket prices to go up to Borobudur Temple (from 50 thousand) to 750 thousand which has been (properly) DELAYED, a lot of creativity from Netizens has changed one of the iconic open stupas in Borobudur, FUNNY , he-3x AMBYAR”.
Roy Suryo’s post then invited a reaction netizen. Some criticized Roy Suryo for his tweet, some considered his tweet a blasphemy against religion.
Roy Suryo then delete the post. He also apologized to Buddhists while explaining that he had no intention of harassing Buddhists.
