The most beautiful star in the world: NASA has released a time-lapse video of our sun. It consists of individual photos from the Solar Dynamics Observatory, a satellite for researching the dynamic processes of our central star. The film summarizes ten years of observation on the homepage of the space agency. The satellite’s camera takes a photo every 0.75 seconds. In fast motion, ten years become just one hour.

The video also shows the outermost part of the sun’s atmosphere, the so-called corona, from which the solar wind also originates. At typically a few million degrees, it is significantly hotter than the layers below, which are the actual surface of the sun.

The visible sun revolves around itself every 25 days. From Earth’s orbit, it takes about 27 days because our planet moves around it in the same direction.
