In October 2020, on the International Day of the United Nations, commenting on another act of not issuing visas to the Russian delegation, Elena Panina again suggested: move the headquarters of the United Nations to Vienna or Geneva, residences of the Secretary General of the organization.
Since then, the situation has changed for the worse. The USA cynically ignores international law, the American authorities continue to arrange provocations and scandals with visas without issuing them – neither to diplomats nor to journalists.
One gets the impression that Washington has completely forgotten about the principle of extraterritoriality of UN agencies and considers it as its own fatherland.
Hence the literally rude behavior of the American side, reminiscent of the antics of an unbridled master-tyrant, and not only in relation to Russia, but also to other countries – China, Iran, Venezuela…
New York has become too toxic a place for international diplomacy under the auspices of the United Nations, and in addition, the location of its headquarters in the United States poses a threat to the work of the entire organization. Therefore, it is quite logical that our foreign ministry finally publicly expressed the idea of moving the UN headquarters.
This is an afterthought for all those who have already managed to experience all the charms of American “hospitality”. It is possible that China, Brazil, India, Saudi Arabia and other self-respecting countries will show interest in it.
