Time difference between the Netherlands and Suriname again 5 hours because of Summer Time

In the Netherlands, the clocks go forward one hour in the night of Saturday 26 to Sunday 27 March. This is due to the start of the so-called Summer Time. As a result, the time difference between Suriname and the Netherlands is from Saturday 10 p.m. Surinamese time, again 5 hours instead of 4 hours.

Daylight saving time was introduced in the Netherlands in 1977 and in the European Union in 1996. By turning the clocks back an hour, the sun seems to rise and set later. As a result, it is dark longer in the morning and it stays light longer in the evening.

The idea behind daylight saving time is also that it has an energy-saving effect. On the last Sunday of October, winter time, or standard time, will resume and the time difference between the two countries will again become 4 hours.
