Tim Smith, soloist of the English rock band Cardiacs, died at the age of 59

Smith passed away on Tuesday night, a spokesman for the group said.

Since his heart attack in 2008, Smith’s health has deteriorated and he has dystonia.

The first version of the rock band was formed by Tim Smith in 1977 with his brother Jim, and was originally called “Filth”, which was soon renamed “Cardiac Arrest”, and later – “Cardiacs”.

From 1980 to 1999, the band released nine studio albums, which, although not commercially successful.

Their most famous song is still the 1988 composition “Is This the Life?”, Which took 80th place in the British hit parade.

Several well-known British artists, including musicians from the rock bands Radiohead and Blur, admit that the Cardiacs have influenced their music. In 1995, at a concert in London, the Cardiacs were the Blur warm-up group.

Cardiacs’ last album, Guns, was released in 1999, and their last single, Ditzy Scene, was released in 2007.
