Tim Shaddock and Bella’s Incredible Survival Story: Adrift in the Pacific Ocean for Two Months

Jakarta

An Australian sailor and a dog have been rescued after being adrift in the Pacific Ocean for two months. They survive by eating raw fish and drinking rainwater.

Quoted from BBC, the sailor was called Tim Shaddock, 51 years old. He is a resident of the City of Sydney, Australia.

Shaddock and his dog Bella set sail from Mexico via French Polynesia in April 2023. Shaddock began his journey of more than 6,000 km from the Mexican city of La Paz.

However, it wasn’t long before his boat broke down after its electronic signal was cut off due to bad weather. Shaddock and his dog were tossed around in the vast and dangerous North Pacific ocean.

When he was finally found off the coast of Mexico two months later, Shaddock was much thinner and bearded

In mid-July, they were found by a search helicopter. Shaddock and Bella are rescued by a trawler.

“His condition is stable and very healthy,” said a doctor.

The doctor on the tuna trawler told 9News Australia that Shaddock looked perfectly normal.

Shaddock also felt that he was fine after that very dangerous journey.

“I have been through a very difficult ordeal at sea,” he said in the video obtained 9News.

“I just need rest and good food because I’ve been alone at sea for a long time. I’m fine,” he added.

Shaddock says his fishing nets have helped him survive. He also managed to avoid sunburn by taking cover under the canopy of his boat.

Shortly after his rescue, he was seen smiling and wearing a blood pressure monitor on his arm. He can also eat snacks.

The tuna trawler that helped Shaddock had returned to Mexico.
