Tim Cook promises better future availability of Apple products

Delivery times for certain configurations of MacBook Pro or iPhone 13 currently exceed two months!

Since the start of the covid crisis, the difficulties in supplying certain components have had a very serious impact on the tech giants. Graphics cards are reaching exorbitant prices while microprocessor manufacturers are trying to keep pace and meet ever-increasing demand.

A significant shortage, of course, but which has not prevented the tech giants from renewing its product range, quite the contrary. On the Apple side, no less than 10 new products were presented in 2021, including the new iPhone 13, MacBook Pros and even an iPad mini. Many products awaited for some by Apple customers, even very long for some, to see the delivery times.

Traditional iPhone 13s, for example, can be delivered within two working days. On the other hand, on the side of the iPhone 13 Pro, we are already spending more than a week of waiting. Where the shoe pinches the most is with regard to the delivery times of the new MacBook Pros. The basic 14-inch model can be delivered to you between two and three weeks later, while the 16-inch in its maximum configuration takes more than… two months to be delivered!

Considerable delivery times therefore, to which Tim Cook, the boss of Apple, wanted to react in an exclusive interview with the Wall Street Journal. While he acknowledges that the supply has been difficult this year, and especially during the end-of-year holiday period, he believes that the situation should improve quickly.

“We have seen supply constraints for most of our products. We anticipate that we will be less [contraints] in March than in the previous quarter.”

Words that corroborate those of many analysts. Indeed, the microprocessor crisis should improve over the months, with a gradual return to normal from mid-2022.
