(23.12.2022) The Berlin singer-songwriter Tim Bendzko will provide the musical highlight at the 52nd Ball des Sports of the German Sports Aid on January 21, 2023 in the Frankfurt Festhalle.

After midnight, the pop singer, who rose to fame with his platinum single “Save the world for a moment”, creates a great atmosphere on the dance floor for all invited guests, including numerous medal winners at the Olympic, Paralympic and World Games and European championships. Bendzko’s particularly close ties to sports (top) were not least demonstrated by his well-known song “Hoch” for the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

In addition to the top musical act and a spectacular show program of the Olympic sport of climbing and acrobatics, the approximately 1,400 guests can look forward to a three-course menu created by star chef Nelson Müller. In 2019 and 2020, Müller, who was awarded a Michelin star for his culinary skills in 2011, treated the guests of the “Ball des Sports” to culinary delights. He is supported in the implementation by accente, the catering company of Messe Frankfurt. The program will be musically accompanied by the band Fresh Music Live.

Karsten Petry, CEO of Deutsche Sporthilfe, says: “The Ball des Sports has always been very exclusive and has a lot of glamor and stars both among the guests and in the programme. We are therefore very pleased to have won two German stars with strong and genuine ties to top-level sport in Nelson Müller and Tim Bendzko for the 52nd ball in the sport. Our return to Frankfurt promises to be an unforgettable experience for our guests and I invite everyone to be a part of it.”

Tim Bendzko has shaped German-language pop music like no other over the past decade. His song language is characterized by feeling, attitude and courage and not only moves the 37-year-old Berliner himself, but also his fans. His fifth studio album titled ‘April’ was announced for March 31, 2023. Bendzko has been a board member of the DFL Foundation, Sports Aid Partner, since 2019.

Nelson Müller stands for a holistic culinary concept with creative gourmet cuisine, sustainability, high-quality products and excellent service. Born in Stuttgart in 1979, the Ruhr area lover with Ghanaian roots runs two first-class restaurants in the heart of the densely populated pub and nightclub district of Rüttenscheid, the Relais & Châteaux Restaurant Schote and the Brasserie MÜLLERS.

As Europe’s largest sporting charity event, the Ball des Sports brings together the German elite of sport, business, politics and society once a year. After the corona-related alternative date in summer 2022, the Ball des Sports will return to Frankfurt am Main next year and to the traditional time of the ball season.

Traditionally, the coveted tickets for the “Ball des Sports” at a cost of 1,200 euros per guest are not for sale, but are reserved exclusively for invited guests of Deutsche Sporthilfe. Due to the return of the ball to Frankfurt, Sporthilfe 2023 offers all interested parties the unique opportunity to purchase tickets for the next gala. With the invitation, Sporthilfe is asking for an additional voluntary donation (against a donation receipt) of around 400 euros per person. The proceeds of the charity event go to the best German youth and top athletes. Ticket requests can be sent to Deutsche Sporthilfe (events@sporthilfe.de).

For Deutsche Sporthilfe, the sports ball is the most important event of the year, both financially and ideally. With its highlight event, the foundation generates six-figure benefit proceeds for the benefit of athletes. In addition, the Ball des Sports attracts great media interest and brings together Sporthilfe-supported athletes like no other event with Sporthilfe partners and sponsors, German company executives and prominent figures from politics and society.

With its exclusive chauffeur service, national sports assistance sponsor Mercedes-Benz ensures that the ball guests arrive on the red carpet in style. More than 150 companies are involved as sponsors and partners in the gala program and in the traditional lottery with a prize pool of around 300,000 euros. Deutsche Bank, the national sponsor of sports aid, takes care of cashless payments.
