Till Lindemann new video scandal: Assault on native woman sparks outrage and controversy

Brutal images from the jungle: Staged as a missionary, Till Lindemann apparently assaults a native woman in his new video.

Frankfurt – Admittedly, the song is catchy, but the images that Till Lindemann paints in his new music video are all the more disturbing. The song is now covered: a Lindemann interpretation of the pop-rock song “Entre dos tierras”, originally by the Spanish band Héroes del Silencio. The cover is part of his first solo album after the scandal, it is titled “Zunge”.

Lindemann in a new video as a missionary – the singer co-wrote the script himself

Lindemann presents himself as a missionary in the video. He wears a hat, a white suit and long dreadlocks and stands in the forest with a machete. And the scandal scene begins even before his singing begins. The singer himself says he co-wrote the script.

The white missionary trudges through the undergrowth and pees in a bush while standing. Meanwhile, a woman wakes up; she lies on the forest floor, opens her eyes wide and arches her back. Apparently startled by the stranger. She is probably supposed to represent a native woman.

Then she runs off. Like a crab, sideways on all fours towards Lindemann. And the? Kicks the stranger in the head. Which apparently had the effect that the missionary wanted: the previously aggressive native woman crawls back to him with longing eyes.

Everything is a prelude to the completely scandalous part. Lindemann groans, makes clear movements and a tear falls from the woman’s eye.

What is only suggested here was shown even more explicitly in the first trailer. It showed Lindemann unbuttoning his shirt, taking off his tie and attacking the motionless woman on the floor. He even chokes her.

The at least controversial start to the “Entre dos tierras” video did not fail to have its desired effect. Lindemann provokes and polarizes – using well-known means. The Lindemann team anticipated disputes in the YouTube comments: the comment function is deactivated.

The media response to the strangling scene is currently quite impressive. The Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung claims to have recognized rape; the Bild shares the suspicion.

Original version apparently too brutal: Lindemann video was filmed in 2020

One thing is clear: the original version was probably too brutal for the producers. Otherwise they would not have defused the excerpt in the official version. But there is no evidence for this.

It is also clear that Lindemann, who successfully defended himself legally against serious assault allegations last year, provokes even more with a scene like this than others. He did this with a cryptic video immediately after the investigation was stopped.

However, the jungle video was filmed in Mexico in 2020, as can be seen on Lindemann’s website. The allegations against the singer only became known in 2023. (moe)
