“Tilda Månsson Sets yet Another Swedish Junior Record at Hoka Spåret 5000”

Last winter, she improved the Swedish junior indoor record in the 3000 meters by two seconds to 9:08.85. During Thursday, 19-year-old Tilda Månsson set yet another Swedish junior record, this time in the 5000 meters at Stockholm’s Stadium. “It feels fantastically fun!” says Tilda, who ran the finish line in 15:46.58.

It was at the competition Hoka Spåret 5000 that Tilda MånssonFredrikshof’s FIF, hit another Swedish junior record.

First to the finish line was Norwegian Kristine Eikrem Engeset, who won the 5000-meter race in 15:44.21. Tilda Månsson crossed the finish line as second in 15:46.58 and Sara Christiansson, Sävedalen AIK, finished third in 16:03.08.

Tilda, who invests mostly in triathlons, occasionally competes in running and she does that extremely well.

The previous junior record of 5000 meters was set 25 years ago by Jessica Carlberg, Oskarshamns SK, and was 15:51.17. Now Tilda lowered it with 4.59.

– It feels fantastically fun that I was able to take another Swedish junior record! The race went well. It was a little too slow opening for it to be a perfectly even race, so it was a fast last kilometer, says Tilda.

Last year her time had been the third best among Sweden’s seniors (see the list here), but Tilda has no thoughts of suddenly switching to a purely athletics career.

– The idea is to continue investing 100 percent in triathlon. But of course I will continue to run races as it is good training in triathlon as well, plus it is a lot of fun.

– Now there will be a little more focus on triathlon as the season is in full swing, but as a runner I only hope to run even faster.
