TikTok has compiled some of its viral musical hits, adapted with an orchestra, into an album that will be released on CD and vinyl, the platform announced on Friday. This will be the first time that TikTok, in partnership with Warner Classics, will enter the traditional music market.
Six singles from the album will hit streaming platforms starting July 8. The 18-track album, titled “TikTok Classics: Meme and Viral Hits,” will hit music stores in August.
Anyone who has logged into the short video social network will recognize tracks such as Alice Merton’s “No Roots” or Danilo Stankovic’s piano song “Pieces”, which have been viewed by more than 3.4 million viewers. users.

All songs have been reworked by the German Babelsberg Film Orchestra. Among the titles is the festive and fluty “Monkeys spinning monkeys”, which has more than 27.1 million views.
Also “Wellerman sea shanty”, which arrived on TikTok in early 2021, after a Scottish postman, Nathan Evans, recorded himself singing this 19th century folk song. The song quickly went viral, with Queen’s Brian May and famed composer Andrew Lloyd Webber being among those who suggested adapting it.
