O TikTok started tests with format Stories on the platform. Confirmation of the pilot test takes place the same week that Twitter’s similar “Fleets” proposal has been deactivated. With the pilot project, the “TikTok Stories” you want to explore other ways your community can bring creative ideas to life.
The new feature will be another option in addition to your existing video tools like Duets, Lives and Filters, was not meant to replace them. TikTok did not say how long the pilot test would run or if it would result in a public release.
However, according to the Tech Crunch the test has been running for a few days. TikTok Stories is available in a small number of markets outside the US at this time for the purpose of gathering information and feedback from users. The current feature set may or may not reach the public.
TikTok Stories: differential and beginning of platform tests
Feature was discovered by social media consultant Matt Navarra, which is often among the first to find new tools in social apps. The timing, of course, was somewhat suspicious – Twitter had just closed Fleets – in what was a well-recognized example of a failure to make Stories work on the social network, despite its popularity in other popular apps like Instagram, Facebook and even, lately, the Pinterest.
From the screenshots and videos of TikTok Stories in action, the product appears to be, for the most part, something that looks familiar to Stories users on other platforms.

Users can tap a camera button in the new navigation bar on the left side of the screen to create their first Stories and then use common tools like those to add text or stickers, insert sounds and even use effects in your content. Like other platforms, users can record videos or upload photos – the last one that opens TikTok to take advantage of users’ larger camera rolls rather than just relying on video.

The difference of the Stories version of TikTok is that allows users to publicly comment on creator content. These comments are public, the app explains, as mutual friends can see each other’s comments. There is also another tab where you can see how many people have seen a certain story and whether you are following those users or not.. A button will allow you to click to follow people back if you wish.
TikTok Stories are also ephemeral and disappear in 24 hours, explains the application tutorial. To see stories from other creators, you can scroll through the new sidebar and tap the creator’s avatar to watch the content.

The addition of the Stories feature is intended to give TikTok users who post and do not regularly an easier way to start engaging with the platform’s tools starting with a more comfortable and familiar format.
