JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The BUMN Ministry has warned TikTok if it wants to reopen its online trading business, TikTok Shop
Expert Staff for Finance and MSME Development, Ministry of BUMN, Loto Srianita, revealed that his party had held a meeting with TikTok Shop in November 2023.
At the meeting, his party requested that TikTok Shop continue to support MSME businesses.

“We have met and we conveyed to TikTok our concern that we have no shortage of MSME products. “So what must be prioritized is MSME products (sold at the TikTok Shop,” said Loto to the media in Jakarta, Friday (1/12/2023).
He said that the government is very open to the presence of the TikTok Shop as long as it is willing to follow regulations and provide an open door for MSMEs to develop in the TikTok Shop.
Apart from that, his party also asked TikTok Shop to actively monitor its merchandise transactions so as not to harm MSMEs.
“Don’t worry that most imported products are being sold. “Never mind that the product is not local, don’t give it a chance,” said Loto.
Previously, the Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs, Teten Masduki, also echoed the same thing. Teten stated that the government would not mind if TikTok merged with PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) or GoTo as an effort to open a TikTok Shop.

However, the government’s special hope if the TikTok Shop reopens is that TikTok and GoTo management must ensure that there are no predatory pricing activities in their business services.
“I convey that the government’s interest is that there should be no more predatory pricing practices because that will hit MSMEs,” said Teten to the media when met in Jakarta, Tuesday (28/11/2023).
“They must also respect national economic development. “We want the digital economy to also start implementing sustainable business models,” he continued.
Predatory pricing is a trading term that refers to the practice of price gaming. In many cases, victims of predatory pricing generally target players who are weaker or do not have large capital strength.
Predatory pricing occurs when producers, distributors or importers deliberately sell their products too cheaply compared to similar products with the aim of killing their competitors.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Communication and Information, Budi Arie, hopes that if the TikTok Shop service reopens, TikTok management must ensure that consumers benefit.
“There’s no problem with them merging, it’s business to business (B2B) but what is certain is that consumers must benefit, the country also benefits,” said Budi Arie.
