TikTok Russian Propaganda Videos Aimed at Undermining Western Support for Ukraine, BBC Reports 800 Fake Accounts

Russian propaganda videos on the app have attracted millions of views, with the apparent aim of undermining Western support for Ukraine.

The BBC has detected almost 800 fake accounts since July.

“TikTok” states that the videos posted on the fake accounts were aimed at users not only in Ukraine and Russia, but also throughout Europe. So far, more than 12,000 fake accounts of Russian origin have been eliminated.

The BBC reports that TikTok users in several European countries have been exposed to false claims that senior Ukrainian officials and their relatives have bought luxury cars or villas abroad following Russia’s large-scale invasion.

According to the daughter of the former Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov, her father’s dismissal is partly to blame for several fake TikTok videos.
