Every day, about 10,000 content moderators of video platform Tiktok are exposed to child pornography, beheadings, animal cruelty and sexual violence. So says one of those moderators, Candie Frazier. She says she is traumatized by the content of the videos she has to check and is suing the company for it.
Due to the sheer volume of content on Tiktok, moderators should not take more than 25 seconds to rate a video. As a result, they have to watch three to ten videos at once,” the lawyers wrote in the indictment Bloomberg could look into. They have to watch hundreds of videos during twelve hour shifts. Frazier demands damages. She also wants to enforce through the courts that Tiktok is obliged to provide psychological help to moderators. Tiktok has not yet responded to the charges.
