TikTok maker ByteDance wants to pull out of mainstream video games

ByteDance, the creator of TikTok and the parent company of Nuverse – which is the publisher of Marvel Snap – has announced plans to pull out of the mainstream video game world.

According to Reuters ByteDance is said to be halting work on unreleased video games and looking to sell out of its already launched titles as it looks to restructure its gaming efforts to focus solely on casual gaming offerings, such as TikTok’s games.

Despite this rather massive news, and the fact that ByteDance specifically states that they have no plans to return to the global video game market, Nuverse has gone to X to assure fans that this decision will not affect the future of Marvel Snap .

“Some of our players have expressed concern about the reported structural changes in Nuverse.

“We want to thank you for your concern and assure you that SNAP will continue to function and thrive in the future, regardless of any changes at Nuverse!”

As for the other games found in the ByteDance portfolio, it is unclear whether their future will be as secure at this point.
