TikTok is banned again, this time it’s the country that takes action – Computer King Ada

The Nepalese government has banned the use of TikTok by Nepali people on the grounds that TikTok is harmful to Nepali society. This is also the second country to impose restrictions on TikTok after India and the United States.

Nepal has also implemented a series of strict controls on other social software platforms. Social software platforms currently operating in Nepal, such as Facebook, X, TikTok, YouTube and Instagram, all need to be registered with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of Nepal. Set up an office in Nepal or appoint a coordinator.In addition, Nepal also announced 19 Prohibited Things, including prohibitions such as not creating false IDs on social software and prohibiting any posts promoting activities such as child labor, human trafficking, child marriage or polygamy. Today, the Nepali government announced a ban on the use of TikTok in Nepal on the grounds that TikTok is harmful to Nepali society. Rekha Sharma, Minister of Electronics and Information Technology of Nepal, said that content shared on TikTok has a destructive impact on “social harmony, family structure and family relationships” in Nepal.

Although Rekha Sharma, Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, said that relevant departments in Nepal are currently solving the technical problems of banning the use of TikTok, there is still no answer as to when the nearly 2.2 million TikTok users in Nepal will no longer be able to use this Chinese-made APP.

Although TikTok has previously stated that it will not share user-related information with the Chinese government, according to Chinese law, the Chinese government can request TikTok to obtain information owned internally by TikTok. Many countries are also concerned about this issue. In 2020, India banned TikTok and 58 other Chinese applications in the name of safeguarding national sovereignty and integrity. The United States also banned government agency devices from downloading or using TikTok this year.
