TikTok: Golden luck for “little” artists

Independent musicians who break into TikTok will automatically have a contract with a label.

The news is causing a stir in the music business world: TikTok has signed an agreement with distributor UnitedMasters. This allows him to post his most viral tracks on Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud and YouTube. This is excellent news for “small” artists without a record label who, if successful on TikTok, will thus be offered a powerful first distribution contract for their song.
On the penny side, UnitedMasters takes a 10% commission on sales revenue, or 0% if the musicos have subscribed to a $ 5 monthly subscription. The distributor also undertakes to put artists in touch with major brands, which traditional labels do not do.
TikTok – targeted by a decree from Donald Trump requiring it to sell its activities on US soil – is the springboard par excellence for young talents. Lil Nas X, Bosh, or Petit Voyou owe him a lot. The latter is also well aware of this. “I had my place there as a youngster because this channel is not monopolized by big artists”, he confided on BFM TV.
