TikTok extends the maximum length of videos to three minutes

TikTok users can now publish significantly longer videos, up to three minutes. The highest limit was previously 60 seconds.

The company writes that they want to give their users expanded opportunities to create content, instead of having to release a series of videos at times when they feel that 60 seconds is not enough.

Like the now defunct Vine, a large part of the concept with TikTok has been just short, easy-to-digest and repetitive videos, which are also always filmed in portrait mode. Although the two social networks are very different for the change thoughts to when Twitter doubled the sign limit from 140 to 280, in the fall of 2017.

The Chinese company has let a limited crowd publish three-minute videos and everyone will have access to the news in the coming weeks.
