Timlo.net—Previously TikTok limited the video duration to a maximum of 60 seconds. But last year, TikTok introduced the ability to upload longer videos for a limited number of creators. At the time, this feature was available exclusively to a select few creators. The good news is that TikTok has now announced that they are in the process of releasing this feature to all creators.
“Over the next few weeks, we will be releasing the option to create longer videos for everyone on TikTok, giving our global community the flexibility to record, upload and edit videos up to three minutes long on TikTok. Once available, you’ll get a notification if a longer video is now part of your creative toolbox,” wrote TikTok. Ubergizmo, Thursday (1/7).
What’s interesting is that this move is similar to the steps Instagram took a few years ago. The company introduced the ability for users to upload videos. But the duration at that time was short. Then they released IGTV which allowed users to upload longer videos. The goal of IGTV, of course, is to compete against platforms like YouTube.
Recently, Instagram itself expanded the availability of Reels, a short video feature that resembles TikTok. Now TikTok is trying to expand the feature of uploading long videos. Is this move to compete with IGTV?
