TikTok could separate from its Chinese owner and operate as an independent American business, says senior White House official

TikTok has already been the subject of legal proceedings for some time on the grounds that the application secretly collected user data and sent it to China. Moreover, several personalities have called for a ban on this application in the United States. But while the question is still being studied, we learn that TikTok could separate from its Chinese owner and operate as an American company.

It was Larry Kudlow, economic adviser to the White House, who made the statement to journalists. I think TikTok will withdraw from its parent company which is led by China and operate as an independent American company. He also said that if this happened, it would be a better option for TikTok rather than being banned in the United States. When asked if American companies could acquire TikTok, he replied that he did not want to speculate. Responding to another question, Kudlow said that TikTok’s servers, after becoming an American company, will be in the United States and not in China.

Following Kudlow’s statements, a TikTok spokesperson said the company would not engage in speculation in the market. He also added that the company remains fully committed to protecting the privacy and security of users and that it is building a platform that inspires creativity and brings joy to hundreds of millions of people around the world.

TikTok is already banned in India and the decision on its ban in the United States has yet to be taken. It should be expected to be done in the next few weeks, but things may change if TikTok actually separates from its Chinese owner and operates as an independent American company.
