TikTok at the 2024 Book Fair, candidates chosen for the first Italian BookTok Awards

TikTok is back official entertainment partner of the 2024 edition of the Turin Motor Show, scheduled for next May 9th to 13th, in some way further confirming the undeniable impact of the platform on the cultural system of our country.

He does it with one larger stand in which to welcome visitors, with one specific space in the app to host content and conversations dedicated to BookTok, which is no longer just a hashtag but has now become a social phenomenon able to go beyond ByteDance’s social networkand above all he does it with the first Italian edition of the TikTok Book Awards.

How to enter the TikTok Book Awards 2024

As we understand, it is a sort of Oscar of the Book in which the Italian TikTok community (probably, even if unofficially, over 20 million users) will be able to vote for their favorite books, authors, creators and publishing houses, partly aided but not influenced by a jury chaired by Annalena Benini, the director of the 2024 Book Fair.

The books and candidates, which we list below, have been divided into 7 categories evaluation: for each, they were selected through the evaluation of the conversations that concerned them between January 7th and March 6th (views, engagement, number of likes, comments, shares and total mentions in videos published with the hashtag #BookTok ), so as to arrive at 4 shortlist e 3 longlist. Just like at the Oscars.

According to what was announced, the shortlists will be directly submitted to the users’ vote, while the longlists (BookTok creator of the year, Publishing house of the year, Author of the year) will initially be evaluated by the jury chaired by Benini, reduced and then submitted to users. Who have time from 11 to 29 April to vote and will be able to do it directly on TikTokin a specific section that will be opened in the app.

When will the winners of the 2024 TikTok Book Awards be known?

From TikTok they announced that the TikTok Book Awards ceremony will be held on May 11th at the Giovanni Agnelli Auditorium of the Lingotto, obviously in Turin: the winners will receive a cash prize of 5 thousand dollars, which will be entirely donated to charities active in the sector of promoting culture and in particular reading, or “any other charity in line with the spirit linked to the BookTok Awards”. The receiving organization will be selected from the various winners in each category.
