Tika de Jonge keeps FC Groningen in the race for promotion to the Eredivisie

From the bench, De Jonge saw how his team fell behind against Telstar within a minute; Zakaria Eddahchouri made it 1-0. FC Groningen could not break down the North Holland wall and needed at least a point to stay in the promotion battle.

With fifteen minutes left on the clock, De Jonge came on and in injury time the midfielder found the head of Thom van Bergen’s header with his cross. Next week De Jonge will play at home against the only remaining competitor Roda JC. If they win, FC Groningen is assured of a place in the Eredivisie next season.
