Marcelo Flores scored three goals for the first time in his career and Tigres beat Necaxa 5-2 to stay within the direct qualification zone for the league.
Flores shook the nets in the 59th, 62nd and 69th minutes, while Frenchman André-Pierre Gignac added a goal in the 51st and Ozziel Herrera added another in the 54th.
Tigres broke a streak of two games without winning and now has 28 points to place itself in fifth position.
In Mexico, the top six teams go directly to the final phase. Between seventh and tenth they meet in a play-off to complete the quarterfinals.
The Rayos, who had won three of their last four games, remain with 27 points and slipped to eighth position.
With goals from Gilberto Sepúlveda and Roberto Alvarado in the complement, Chivas defeated Querétaro 2-0 to get closer to the direct qualification zone.
“Tiba” Sepúlveda scored in the 54th minute and “Piojo” Alvarado added a goal in the 89th minute for Guadalajara, which won its fourth consecutive victory.
Chivas now has 28 points and, due to goal difference, is placed in seventh place, which for now condemns it to reclassification with one date remaining on the regular calendar.
The Gallos Blancos remain with 23 units and have the tenth place that gives them the last ticket to the final phase.
Colombian Nelson Deossa and Owen González scored goals in the second half and Pachuca won 2-0 over Santos Laguna to maintain their place in the direct qualifying zone for the league.
Deossa scored the first goal of the match in the 74th minute and González added another in the 90th for the Tuzos, who won for the second time in their last three games.
Pachuca has 28 units with which it is located in the sixth step of the table, the last one with direct access to the final phase.
The La Laguna team has accumulated five games without winning and with their 15 points they are placed in 13th position without being able to access the league.
