Tigres and Cruz Azul, in the quarter-finals of the Liga MX Diario Deportes

Tigres and Cruz Azul progressed to the quarter-finals of Mexican football by eliminating Necaxa and León respectively on Saturday in the playoff round of the Apertura-2022 tournament.

At the Universitario stadium, with a brace from French André-Pierre Gignac, the Tigres of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León defeated the “Rayos” of Necaxa 2-0.

Gignac scores the 1-0 in the 60th minute with a free kick made about 30 meters from the goal; the French placed the ball in the upper left corner.

At the Azteca stadium, Cruz Azul’s “La Maquina” won 1-0 over León’s “Panzas Verdes”.

The four teams that qualified directly for the quarter-finals are: América, Monterrey, Santos and Pachuca.
