AUGUSTA. Tiger Woods, 48, does it again.

For the 24th time in a row, the legend clears the qualification limit in The Masters and thus breaks a record – against all odds.

– Now I have the chance to win, he says afterwards.

We say “against all odds”, even though it’s Tiger Woods we’re talking about.

The best golfer of all time and by far the biggest crowd favorite, of course – but also a 48-year-old man with a bad knee and arthroscopic surgery on his lower back and ankle.

– I am in pain every day, he said on Tuesday.

But he can play golf…

Tough test

On Friday he was put to a tough test as he was first forced to go out in the morning and finish the last five holes of Thursday’s first round which was interrupted due to darkness.

And then go 18 more holes.

It was a colorful scorecard that contained occasional birdies, occasional bogeys – but once the icon entered the Augusta National clubhouse, he did so with a total of one over par after two rounds, which is enough to play on into the weekend.

– This means that I have given myself the chance to win a golf competition this weekend. Now I just need some food and caffeine, then I’ll be ready again, he says afterwards.

– I’m tired, absolutely. It was a long and tough day, but me and my caddy Lance (Bennett) fought well and now we have the chance this weekend.

Max Homa, Bryson DeChambeau and Scottie Scheffler share the lead at -6.

New record in The Masters

It is the 24th time in a row that Tiger Woods has made the “cut” in The Masters.

The suite began in 1997 and is thus still ongoing.

24 in a row is a new record as he passes Gary Player and Fred Couples who both managed 23 in a row.

– I’m going to send a text message to “Freddy” and poke him a little now…, says Woods.

Gary Player’s streak stretched from 1959 to 1982 (he missed the 1973 edition due to injury).

Fred Couples’ streak began in 1983 and ended in 2007.
