France affected by the mosquito, vector of tropical diseases…
In summer, it is never pleasant to be bitten by all kinds of insects, especially mosquitoes. If most are harmless, causing you at most a bite and itching, some mosquitoes are vectors of more or less serious diseases. And the risks are no longer limited to tropical countries.
In France, the tiger mosquito first appeared a few years ago. This species native to Asia entered French territory via imports of tires and plants. As reported by our colleagues of 60 Million Consumers, it was identified in France for the first time in 2004 in the Rhône-Alpes region.
Today, it has been spotted in 58 departments out of the 96 in France and no more departments are considered to be safe.
