Tiffany & Co.’s Iconic Fifth Avenue Boutique Reopens as “The Landmark”

The Maison Tiffany & Co. begins a new chapter with the reopening of its iconic boutique, now known as “The Landmarklocated at 57th Street of the famous Fifth Avenue in New York. This jewel in New York’s crown—The Landmark—is among Manhattan’s largest boutiques and offers a one-of-a-kind experience: personalized works of art, never-before-seen creations, and immersive exhibits.

This titanic project, the first complete renovation of the jewelry house since its opening in 1940, is the result of the work of two giants of the world of architecture: the architect and designer Peter Marino redesigned the interior design while the famous firm OMA New York — headed by Shohei Shigematsu — spearheaded the renovation of the building’s core including the addition of three floors above the existing building. To maintain the timeless charm of the boutique, the facade has been renovated while the interior has been reimagined giving rise to a whole new world of wonders.

“The reopening of the iconic The Landmark boutique on Fifth Avenue represents a major milestone in the history of our House. Symbol of a new era for Tiffany & Co. and much more than a jewelry store, The Landmark is a true cultural center offering refined architecture, unique hospitality, as well as avant-garde works of art and design. The Landmark sets the bar ever higher in the distribution of luxury goods around the world.” — Anthony Ledru, Chairman and CEO, Tiffany & Co.

Upon entering the new boutique, visitors are immersed in a beautiful tribute: a tribute to the legacy of Charles Lewis Tiffany, the “King of Diamonds” and founder of the House, to New York City with emblematic landscapes of the city that are projected and to Elsa Peretti where at the heart of the boutique is a sculptural spiral staircase whose details are inspired by the sensual and organic designs of the designer who has noticed her passage through the House.

The eminently cultural dimension of The Landmark is visible through the large amount of works of art that can be admired there. Spread over the ten floors, an exhibition of nearly 40 works presents artists such as Damien Hirst, Julian Schnabel, Rashid Johnson, Anna Weyant and Daniel Arsham. Floors 8 and 9 are devoted to museums and exhibition spaces dedicated to rotating concepts and exceptional narrative experiences. From a culinary perspective, Daniel Boulud’s Blue Box Cafe™—Starred New York Chef—offers a unique perspective on Tiffany’s coveted dining experience.

To commemorate the opening, Tiffany & Co. also launched a range of exclusive designs and one-of-a-kind designs. The Landmark will be home to the largest Tiffany fine jewelry collection in the world—including the new design of the legendary 128.54-carat Tiffany diamond.

These major renovations were carried out in a sustainable way and enabled the House to strengthen its initiatives in terms of the environment, health and well-being, positioning The Landmark for soon to obtain certifications WELL Platinum et LEED Gold —the highest levels of benchmarks for corporate well-being and the environmental quality of buildings.
