It is the first time that TicketSwap receives money from an outside investor. With the money, TicketSwap wants to expand to other countries, such as Germany and Sweden, and improve the quality of the service.
TicketSwap also wants to open offices in France and the United Kingdom. In addition, the platform is working on a smart raffle system, so that more people can compete for a popular entrance ticket. TicketSwap also wants to expand the app with more information about artists and events.
With the investment, Million Monkeys now has a minority stake in TicketSwap. The company does not say how big the interest is. TicketSwap was founded in 2012 by Hans Ober, Frank Roor and Ruud Kamphuis and is active worldwide. On the platform, people can sell tickets for concerts, festivals, sporting events, theater performances and days out. TicketSwap works with thousands of event organizers.
Tech financier Million Monkeys comes from investor Maarten Beucker Andreae, who started the investment company in 2013. He previously founded 2dehands.be, which was acquired by the American marketplace eBay. He has also made previous investments in other online marketplaces, such as TheNextCloset, a second-hand website for designer clothes.
