Ticket sales for the Early Music Festival – Recreation have started


“Latvijas Koncerti” invites to the concerts of the Early Music Festival, which will take place this year from June 30 to July 3 in Riga and Rundāle. The concerts will feature masterpieces of Renaissance sacred music, the most beautiful baroque opera arias, Italian and German baroque masterpieces. Listeners will meet the Latvian Radio Choir and conductor Kaspars Putniņš, the State Chamber Orchestra Sinfonietta Rīga, which will play under the direction of conductor Andris Veismaņš, the baroque orchestra “Collegium Musicum Riga” and conductor Māris Kupčs, as well as the brilliant soloists – singer Elīna Šimka Bulaev and Estonian kantele virtuoso Anna-Liis Eller. One of the most beautiful tales of the famous Danish fairy tale master Hans Christian Andersen – “Forest Swans” – will be introduced to the musical sounds for children in the concert.

Early music festival June 30 Riga St. The Latvian Radio Choir under the direction of conductor Kaspars Putniņš will open in St. Peter’s Church. In the concert we will play the motets of the great Renaissance Giovanni Perluigi da Palestrina and Orlande de Lassus, written with the lyrics of Solomon’s “High Songs” or “Songs of Songs”. The special guest at the concert of the Early Music Festival will be the Estonian canteen virtuoso – Anna-Liisa Ellere. Alongside the originals of Palestrina and De Lassus motets, the concert will feature improvisations by Anna-Liisa and diminutions of Palestrina motets written by the outstanding 16th century cornet virtuoso and composer Giovanni Bassano. The concert starts at 20.00.

July 1 The small guild will feature the most beautiful baroque opera arias performed by clear soprano Elīna Šimkus, baroque orchestra “Collegium Musicum Riga” and conductor Māris Kupčs. The program includes compositions by Johann Christian Bach and Johann Adolf Hase. The beginning of the concert pl. 20.00.

July 3 In the garden of Rundāle castle at 13.00 A small musical journey awaits young listeners in Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale “Swans of the Forest”. It captivates with the story of good and evil, with the conviction that evil can only be overcome with courage, perseverance and love. There will be more than one vivid image in the musical performance, but the main means of expression will be the music of the great greats of the past Monteverdi, Vivaldi, Bach and Handel. Jolanta Strikaite-Lapiņa, Dināra Rudāne, Atis Ieviņš, Jānis Strazdiņš, students of Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, students of Riga School of Choreography and Riga Dome Choir School, as well as an instrumental group led by Pēteris Vaickovskis will take part in the performance. July 3 Rundāle Castle in the Golden Hall at 19.00 Italian and German baroque masterpieces will sound. The concert will feature a meeting with virtuoso violinist Dmitrijs Sinkovskis and the outstanding harpsichordist Ieva Saliete. Works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Heinrich Ignac, Georg Friedrich Handel and others will be performed.

At the end of the early music festival July 3 In the garden of Rundāle castle at 22.00 Antonio Vivaldi’s violin concert series “Seasons” will traditionally sound, which has experienced countless recordings and interpretations all over the world, thus “Seasons” is probably one of the most popular opuses of classical music. We will enjoy the mood of the seasons Sinfonietta Riga, conducted by Andris Veismanis and violinist Daniils Bulajevs. Bulayev has been enjoying the attraction of the stage podium since the age of five. International competitions are his daily routine, and the geographical map of the concerts is variegated. Daniil’s violin is able to be emotional, relaxed and youthfully free, but at the same time able to ask sufficiently challenging or, at the same time, existential questions.

The concert will feature works by Johann Christian Bach, Christoph Willibald Gluck, Jean-Baptiste Lullie, Jean-Philippe Ramo and Antonio Vivaldi.

At the concerts of the Early Music Festival, visitors will be required to present an interoperable vaccination or Covid-19 disease certificate, as well as an identity document.

The Early Music Festival is supported by the Riga City Council and the State Cultural Capital Foundation.
