After a spirited start, AIK experienced a nightmare in the first half against Malmö FF at Eleda Stadium. After goals from Isaac Kiese Thelin, Erik Botheim and an own goal from Benjamin Tiedemann Hansen, the score was 3-0 to the home team at half-time.
Right-back Mads Døhr Thychosen’s assessment of AIK’s half was clear.
– Terrible, he said in the Discovery+ broadcast.
When asked what had been terrible, the Dane answered:
– Almost everything. The first few minutes were good. But I don’t know, the referee didn’t want us to score and after that it’s been terrible.
Thychosen was referring to a situation at 0-0 in the match. A free-kick variant gave Bersant Celina a free shooting position at the penalty area line, but referee Joakim Östling stood close and got in the way of Celina’s shot – to the great frustration of the AIK players.
Moments later, Thychosen received a warning after scolding the fourth official.
– I think it was a free kick. But it was stupid of me, he told Discovery+.
MFF eventually won the match 5-0.
