Thuringia: Girl experiences horror attack in city park! “Full of blood”

It is an absolute nightmare that a young girl from Gera in Thuringia had to go through.

What was supposed to be a relaxing walk with her young dog Buddy ended up being the worst experience of her life.

Thuringia: Walking the dog becomes a fight for survival

A girl is walking her dog in a forest near the zoo in Gera in Thuringia. The six-month-old bobtail loves being out and about with the girl. The 11-year-old knows the forest; she is often here. But on June 29th everything was different. Because on this Saturday the two are not alone. The weather is wonderful and lots of people are outside. Of course there are other dog owners too. But one of them doesn’t seem to have his four-legged friend under control. The 11-year-old will later tell her mother Jenny Breuninger that suddenly, as if out of nowhere, another dog came running towards them. There was apparently no owner to be seen.

The strange dog attacked Buddy and tried to bite the bobtail. Eventually Buddy broke free and ran away. At that moment, the owner is said to have come running, put the animal on a leash and tied it to a tree. He wanted to search for the runaway bobtail together with Jenny’s daughter, but everything happened very quickly. This is what Jenny Breuninger reported in an interview with Thüringen24. The 34-year-old mother keeps fighting back tears when she thinks about the terrible moments her child went through.

Thuringia: Doctors in the hospital do their best

Suddenly the dog was standing in front of the girl again – without a collar. The animal was completely out of control and went straight for the 11-year-old. It bit her arms and legs several times, and the child’s back and face were not spared either. In the end, the animal caught the child’s head and wedged itself in it. The owner then threw himself on the dog and pulled it away from the blood-soaked girl, reports Jenny. She was initially called by her daughter: “Mom, you have to come quickly, there’s blood everywhere!” Then first responders were on the phone, explaining to Jenny that her daughter was seriously injured and that she had to come immediately.

In the meantime, passers-by had noticed the situation, cared for the blood-soaked girl and called an ambulance. “I only saw my child in the ambulance then,” Jenny says. I only recognized her by her eyes. “The child was just screaming for me!” reports the mother. There was blood everywhere. Meanwhile, Buddy had been picked up by other passers-by near the scene of the accident. He was unharmed.

At the hospital, the doctors then began cleaning the 11-year-old in order to be able to assess the extent of her injuries. Because of the risk of infection, the wounds could not be closed completely at first. “She was screaming the whole time and I tried to stay strong and kept reassuring her that everything would be OK. It was terrible,” said Jenny.

In the end, the large wound on the head was stitched up. The injuries on the face had to be taped. “I am so glad that the doctors took such good care of my child,” said Jenny. The police later took up the matter. Pictures of the 11-year-old’s wounds were taken in the hospital. In response to a request from Thüringen24, the police in Gera explained: “According to the current status of the investigation, the dog was on a leash when both dog owners were walking in the city forest, [auf Höhe des] Entrance to the zoo. At the time of the attack, the dog violently freed itself from its attached leash. The 11-year-old girl was seriously injured in the attack that followed. We are unable to provide any further details on the matter due to the ongoing investigation.” The police investigation will now have to uncover and unravel the contradictions in the two stories. At the moment, it is one person’s word against another’s. Of course, that does not change the young girl’s suffering.

The family is now facing difficult times. The girl has been released from the hospital, but has to go for daily check-ups to see if her wounds are healing. But what remains are deep emotional wounds. Mother and daughter are both afraid to go into the forest again or even meet the dog in question. Both will undergo psychological treatment to process what they have experienced.

The family has also hired a lawyer who will now continue to pursue the case. Jenny Breuninger is also very grateful that so many strangers were immediately on hand at the scene of the accident to possibly save her daughter’s life.
