Offenbach am Main – the people inside Hesse have to be prepared for partly violent thunderstorms with heavy rain this Sunday and in the coming night.

The turbulent weather in Frankfurt and the rest of the federal state will be influenced by a low pressure area over Ireland, which will lead “very warm and humid air” to Hesse, according to the forecast by the German Weather Service (DWD).
The result: From the afternoon, there will be individual, strong thunderstorms, preferably from the Odenwald via the eastern and northern half of the state, which could bring heavy rain of up to 25 liters per square meter and hail and gusts of wind with up to 80 km/h.
“Locally limited” there is even a risk of severe weather from heavy rain with up to 35 liters per square meter and larger hail.

From late Sunday evening there was another extremely uncomfortable weather situation: a larger thunderstorm system is expected to move up over Hesse from the south-west, which would then move northwards, report the meteorologists in Offenbach am Main.
Here, too, there is potential for storms due to heavy rain with up to 40 liters per square meter in a short time or with 40 to 50 liters per square meter in a few hours.
Heavy gusts of wind with a speed of 80 to 100 km/h cannot be ruled out.
