In De Klomp, a hamlet near Veenendaal, a car got stuck under a railway tunnel at Veenendaal-De Klomp station. The driver of the car wanted to use the tunnel to drive towards Ede, reports Broadcasting Gelderland, but that went wrong. Firefighters got her out of the car.

The tunnel in De Klomp, near Veenendaal, was completely under water

There was also disruption around Amsterdam due to the bad weather. For example, train traffic around Amsterdam Central station had to deal with the consequences of a lightning strike, which meant that far fewer trains were running. There was a large puddle of water on the A10 motorway near Amsterdam-Sloterdijk. Two lanes were closed.

Because of the showers, the KNMI had declared code yellow for seven provinces, but that warning has now been withdrawn.

Rijkswaterstaat advises road users to take the situation into account and to adjust their driving style in bad weather.
