The rival colleagues of ‘Family’ have had a tradition of such a midseason finale for some time, but ‘Thuis’ is also planning an extra-long episode halfway through the season in which many storylines come together and create cliffhangers. Such a midseason is a handy TV trick to provide more momentum in a daily fiction series. The screenwriters can then build the various storylines to a climax.
Good Friday
The midseason is scheduled at ‘Thuis’ on Friday, March 29. That is Good Friday and the last day before the start of the Easter holidays. Loyal viewers can already guess what will happen next. In recent weeks it has emerged that the character Bob (Christophe Haddad) in the series has relapsed and has cancer again. This time terminal and no longer curable. Bob asked his ex Tamara (Tine Priem) to make one last trip with their son Leo. That trip departs at the start of the Easter holidays. The midseason will therefore also be Bob’s exit.

“It was previously communicated that Christophe Haddad is leaving ‘Thuis’ after nine years,” said ‘Thuis’ spokesperson Ira Stevaert. “His character is gradually preparing his farewell and wants to make something beautiful out of it with his ex-wife Tamara, best friend Lowie and all the other people he loves. Unfortunately, there is one bitter touch in this story: Bob cannot count on Christine and Adil’s understanding. His ex-wife Christine hatches a plan and does not believe Bob’s diagnosis. Is Bob really lying about his illness and does he have plans for his son Leo?”
There has been a lot of speculation on fan sites for weeks about what awaits the viewer. “In the more than 10 years that we have been working with this writing team for ‘Thuis’, it has never happened that we have such a double episode in the middle of a season. But the storyline is so exciting that we needed more than the usual 20 minutes to tell everything,” says main scriptwriter Stef Wouters.
