TVLowieke has done it again in ‘Thuis’. Just like in 2022, Mathias Vergels’ character will also win the prize for the most memorable moment in the VRT 1 soap in 2023. Difficult to choose
Every year, the makers of ‘Thuis’, with the help of loyal viewers, put together a list of the most memorable moments of the past year. It was difficult to choose, because in 2023 there were quite a few spectacular scenes that could easily be claimed. Just think of the bomb attack in which Chief Inspector Patje (Gunther Reniers) lost his life. Or the two weddings, because there were slightly more weddings than usual this year. Not only Adil (Nawfel Bardad-Daidj) and Christine (Daphne Paelinck) tied the knot, but also Harry and Thilly (Lauren Müller). And then there was certainly the last season finale in which Maïté (Sara Gracia Santacreu) not only shot accomplice John (Wim De Pauw) in cold blood, but also surprised Dieter (Raf Jansen) and the viewers with the news that she was pregnant with it. Marianne (Leah Thys) could of course also claim the award, because she knocked down the taunting lawyer Alexander (Eric Goossens) with a sharp but fatal blow with a golf stick. That scene turned out to be not only dramatic but also profound because it was the start of the still most important storyline.
Emo lover
The viewers of ‘Thuis’ appear to be softies and corny emo enthusiasts with a preference for scenes without much action. After all, the most votes in this poll did not go to all those scenes mentioned, but to the homecoming of Lowie (Mathias Vergels) after the birth of Polly. She was born in September thanks to surrogate mother Tamara (Tine Priem) and egg donor Katrien (Lotte Vannieuwenborg). A scene in which not much happened and not much was said, but it did evoke a lot of emotions and started a completely new chapter.

Lowie is clearly popular with the ‘Home’ viewer, because Lowie Bomans also won the prize for the most memorable moment in 2022. Then his break-up with Viv (Lynn Van Den Broeck) was the highlight. Not only were there many tears involved, but that love break was also the direct reason for the storyline surrounding the fatherhood of the single Lowie, which in the meantime led to the birth of his daughter and to the most memorable moment. The arrival of Polly now creates a completely new plot at the start of 2024, because Tamara and Lowie seem to be on the right track to become a new love couple. After all, Tamara is divorcing Bob (Christophe Haddad), who will leave the marital home. So she stays behind in the house where Lowie still lives with Polly. There is speculation on fan sites that Tamara and Lowie will fall for each other. “Their first kiss is coming,” people predict online.
